He has been a consultant to numerous organizations, such as General Electric, IBM, Metropolitan Life, Unilever, E. I. DuPont de Nemours, W. L. Gore and Associates, Boeing, LG Corp., Best Buy, Merck, Johnson & Johnson, Agilent, and Medtronic. He is the past chairman of the American Marketing Association. His primary areas of activity are marketing, strategy making, organic growth and innovation, organizational change, and competitive strategies in global markets. He has also served on 10 boards of directors for nonprofit and for-profit organizations.
Professor Day has authored 19 books in the areas of marketing and strategic management. His most recent books are Strategy From the Outside In: Profiting From Customer Value (with Christine Moorman, 2010); Innovation Prowess: Leadership Strategies for Accelerating Growth (2013); and See Sooner, Act Faster: How Vigilant Leaders Thrive in an Era of Digital Turbulence (with Paul Schoemaker, 2019). He has won 10 best article awards and one best book award, and two of his articles were among the top 25 most influential articles in marketing science in the past 25 years. He was honored with the Charles Coolidge Parlin Marketing Research Award in 1994, the Paul D. Converse Award in 1996, the Sheth Foundation Award in 2003, the Mahajan Award for career contributions to strategy in 2001, and the William L. Wilkie Marketing for a Better World Award in 2017. In 2003, he received the AMA–Irwin–McGraw–Hill Distinguished Marketing Educator Award. In 2011, he was chosen as one of 11 legends in marketing. In 2020, he received the Sheth Medal given every two years for distinguished contributions to marketing and strategic management.

He was among the first to combine the practical ideas of decision theory, behavioral economics, scenario planning, and risk analysis into a set of strategic tools and methods for managers. He has become a highly cited scholar (top 1% globally) and is internationally known for his 120+ articles and 12 books on decision making, leadership, innovation, and strategy, including the landmark book Winning Decisions. With Wharton professor George Day, Paul published See Sooner — Act Faster (MIT Press, 2019), which examines how leaders and organizations can thrive in an age of digital turbulence. His latest book, Advanced Introduction to Scenario Planning (Elgar Publishing, 2022), offers a panoramic view of managing uncertainty with examples drawn from diverse domains.
David WesselsDavid Wessels is an adjunct professor of finance and a director of Executive Education at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He serves as the academic director for Wharton’s CFO program on strategic leadership. David teaches courses on corporate valuation, venture capital, and performance management to undergraduates and MBAs in Philadelphia and San Francisco and executive audiences globally. Professor Wessels has been recognized by his students with the school’s MBA excellence in teaching award, and he has been acknowledged nationally for his research on organizational structure and financial performance. His co-authored book, Valuation: Measuring and Managing the Value of Companies, is accepted as the seminal text for students of corporate valuation and investment banking.
Peter CappelliPeter Cappelli is the George W. Taylor Professor of Management at the Wharton School, the director of Wharton’s Center for Human Resources, and a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Professor Cappelli’s recent research examines changes in employment relations in the U.S. and their implications. These publications include The New Deal at Work: Managing the Market-Driven Workforce; Talent Management: Managing Talent in an Age of Uncertainty; The India Way: How India’s Top Business Leaders are Revolutionizing Management (with colleagues); and Fortune Makers and Managing the Older Work (with Bill Novelli). After the published start date of the program, you have until the midpoint of the program to request to defer to a future cohort of the same program. A deferral request must be submitted along with a specified reason and explanation.
