If you want to achieve a management credential from an elite business school while also maintaining your work/life balance, the Management Development Program may be a good fit. The required work effort is three to five hours per week, including live sessions with Wharton faculty, peer discussion groups, recorded videos, and short assignments. The on-campus three-day event at the end of the program offers opportunities to network with your peers, continue cultivating your management mindset, and celebrate your program completion.
If you are someone who wants to build your business skills to make a greater impact on your organization and on society, then developing your managerial mindset is your first step. Both the public and private sectors need more managers who not only have the hard skills such as finance, accounting, and operations to manage the business, but also the soft skills to manage people by building trust and communicating effectively. Even as technology infiltrates every aspect of our work, companies need people who can think in multiple dimensions, considering financial, operational, and human implications of business decisions.
There are no prerequisites for this program, except that you are fluent in English.
This program is scored as a pass or no-pass; participants must complete the capstone project and 80 percent of the required activities to pass and obtain the certificate of completion from Wharton. Elements that contribute to the score are discussion posts, polls, and activities in which you apply program content.
Because we know that there is immense value in meeting your peers and faculty in person, the program culminates with a live three-day event on Wharton’s campus designed to deepen the relationships you foster online with peers, to network with your colleagues, to build additional leadership skills, and to celebrate your program completion. It is optional, not mandatory, to attend this event. However, we believe this unique aspect of the program design will add tremendous value to your overall experience, and you won’t want to miss it. Highlights include:
There is no additional cost to join this three-day event, although travel costs such as airfare and hotel are the responsibility of the participant. We will offer suggestions for accommodations near Wharton’s campus along with a special discount code.
Having ambition to advance your management career doesn’t have to mean that you put your personal life on hold. We have designed this program to fit into your current working life, with just three to five hours of effort required per week. During the capstone project, you may need to put in more time to make it really shine, but this is the expected requirement to achieve a passing grade. Time will be spent among a variety of activities including:
The program is designed to be highly interactive, while also allowing time for self-reflection and to demonstrate an understanding of the core topics through various action learning exercises.
More than 3 million individuals have accessed Wharton’s knowledge through online learning since 2012. With this vast experience comes the confidence to design and deliver learning experiences with impact.
It’s interactive, flexible, rigorous, and designed to include a lot of personal attention so that you can reach your learning goals more effectively. You will join a community of learners who are excited to expand and share their knowledge. Here are a few elements that set this program apart:
